Air Pollution in Delhi
Every year during the onset of winter Delhi’s air quality begins to fall. The air quality in Delhi worsening now according to World Health Organization is the worst of any major city in the world. Motor vehicle emissions are one of the causes of poor air quality. Other causes include wood-burning fires, fires on agricultural land, exhaust from diesel generators, dust from Construction sites, burning garbage and illegal industrial activities in Delhi. The biggest burden of air pollution is undoubtedly its impact on public health. We are breathing in toxic air every single second and facing so many health issues. Poor air quality is a cause of reduced lung capacity, headaches, sore throats, coughs, fatigue, lung cancer, and early death. This situation is dangerous for every individual person but it makes worse situations for asthma patient, cardiac patient, pregnant women’s, old peoples and children’s. Approx. 2.2 million Children in Delhi have irreversible lung damage due to the poor quality of the air. In addition, research shows that pollution can lower children’s immune system and increase the risks of cancer, epilepsy, diabetes. Urgent strict action is required to reduce air pollution in Delhi.

Reason of air pollution refers to any physical, chemical or biological change in the air. People should avoid using vehicles for shorter distances and grow plants and trees to reduce a large number of pollutants in the air

Air which we are breathing is very hazardous for our health. Government should take strict actions against it. As a citizen we also take steps on our own. Instead travelling by our own vehicle, we should use public transport or car pooling.
