The site contains the past History of CSL and it also provides a guided tour and its activities. The Library Rules provides a summarized view of CSL and its services. It also provides a brief idea about Collection Development Policy of the library.
CSL has a collection of about 8,50,000 volumes. This includes the collection of Regional Language Library and RK Puram branch library. RK Puram branch library has a text book collection for undergraduate students.
The catalogue of the library i.e. holding data is available in electronic form within the premises and also on the web OPAC.
CSL also undertook a project in which the full text of Government of India Gazette notifications, 1922-2001, have been digitized. The digital data of Gazette of India is available in egazette portal of Department of Publication. Other categories of Government publications i.e. Committee Commission Reports available in CSL are fully digitized and available in web.
Area Study Division of the CSL has a large research collection on different countries of the world and regions of India. Rare book collection of this division has more than 6,500 titles. CSL also has a collection of microfilms of official publications released during the British period. Two newspapers i.e. Times of India 1951 to 1998 and Nav Bharat Times 1950-1998 are also available for its users.
Foreign Official Documents Division FOD regularly acquires publications of international agencies such as United Nations, IMF, World Bank etc. It also receives official publications from the British Government, USA, Australia and certain other countries.
CSL has also published a compendium of Government of India reports on Library and Information Services. It has also published the report of the Review Committee on Library Staff of Central Government, based on 4th Pay Commission recommendations
