Q. What are the Library's visitor hours?

Ans. The Central Secretariat Library open to visitors from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday to Friday and 9:00 am to 5:30 p.m. on Saturdays. The library is closed on Sundays and Gazetted Holidays.

Q.Where is the Central Secretariat Library located, and what is the best way to get there?

Ans. The Central Secretariat Library is located in ‘G’- Wing, Shastri Bhawan, Rajendra Prasad Road, New Delhi – 110001. The main visitor entrance is through Gate Number -1, Shastri Bhawan.

Q. What is the security entry process?

Ans. All visitors entering the Central Secretariat Library, Shastri Bhawan building must go through Security Check along with Identity Prove at the entrance of Shastri Bhawan and in Central Secretariat Library. Visitors should limit the amount of personal property they bring to the Library. Certain prohibited items like weapons, knives explosives are not allowed into the buildings.

Q. Are there long waits to enter the Library?

Ans. Visitors to the Library, rarely have to wait in line on the entry gate of Shastri Bhawan and Central Secretariat Library Building.

Q. Do I need tickets or reservations?

Ans. The Central Secretariat Library is free and open to the public. Visitors do not need tickets or reservations to enter or to visit the Library.

Q. How can I tour the Library?

Q. May I take photographs in the Central Secretariat Library Building?

Ans. Photography is restricted in Central Secretariat Library and Shastri Bhawan premises.

Q. Is there a cloakroom?

Ans. The visitors' can deposit their bag at the Security Counter at their own risk. The counter is available at the entrance of the Ground Floor of Central Secretariat Library Building and is open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. (Monday to Friday) and 9:00 am to 5:30 p.m. (Saturday).

Q. Is the building accessible?

Ans. The Library buildings is fully accessible.

Q. Is parking available?

Ans. The Library does not provide parking space to visitors.

Q. Is Cafeteria / Canteen available at the Library?

Ans. The Library does not have Cafeteria and Canteen facility.

Q. How do I became a member?

Q. Can a user can bring their own book in Central Secretariat Library?

Ans. Yes, one book is allowed for the user to bring and consult in the reading room after taking permission from Reference In-Charge.

Q. Can a General Public be allowed to consult Central Secretariat Library?

Ans. Central Secretariat Library is allowed for General Public for consultation but they are required to show original photo identity card for entry in the main gate of Shastri Bhawan and at Security Counter in Library entry gate.
